The CEP Growth Programme is recruiting a Research Economist to join a team led by Mirko Draca and Anna Valero that will build up new quantitative evidence on emerging technologies (eg: AI, blockchain, clean-tech, quantum) and the drivers of their invention and adoption in the UK. The aim of the work is to improve understanding of the UK's productivity puzzle, and, practically the project will integrate a rich range of 'web intelligence' data on technology and venture capital with large firm-level databases.

The Research Economist will play a major role in the design and execution of the project and co-author work. The successful candidate will assist with data preparation, merging, modelling, and analysis and will contribute to co-authored journal quality papers and will coordinate the work of others as required.

The successful candidate should have a PhD (or be under 1 year to completion from post start date) in either Economics or another quantitative social science discipline. They should have the ability to identify key research questions;
advanced analytical skills in handling and quantitative analysis of large firm-level datasets.

Fixed term appointment for 18 months
