Moody’s Analytics traces its roots to Moody’s KMV Research group, a pioneer in the quantification of credit risk. We construct quantitative models that estimate default and recovery risk, price credit instruments, enable credit portfolio management, assess commercial real estate risk, and facilitate asset and liability management. Our objective is to create models that are accurate and forward-looking, yet practical, robust, and transparent.

As a Research Associate, you will join our Quantitative Research team which has a rich history of providing forward-looking research and thought leadership in the credit risk arena. The team comprises of members with diverse backgrounds in fields such as finance, economics, econometrics, statistics, engineering, real estate, geography, accounting, and mathematics. As a part of this team, you will leverage your skills and expertise and support our continued innovation in credit risk research.

Locations: Opportunities available in San Francisco and New York.

Specific responsibilities may include:

• Conducting sophisticated theoretical and empirical research on measurements of credit risk, fixed income valuation, commercial real estate research, and enterprise risk management;
• Collaborate with financial researchers and data analysts on research projects;
• Partner with engineering teams to deploy completed research through various technology channels’;
• Partner with marketing, sales, product management, client service teams, and clients on the education and implementation of risk management technology;
• Present research findings to technical and non-technical audiences internally and externally.
Qualifications:
• Ph. D., or have completed all coursework required by a Ph.D. program, in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics or a closely related quantitative field;
• Research experience in econometric and statistical modeling;
• Experience with programming tools such as Python, SAS, R, or Matlab;
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Other desirable qualifications:
• Research experience in financial accounting, actuarial science, asset pricing and/or corporate finance;
• Experience leveraging techniques in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
