The UChicago/UCEMA Joint Initiative for Latin American Experimental Economics (JILAEE), co-directed by John List (UChicago) and Julio Elias (Universidad del CEMA, UCEMA), is newly established to design and implement field experiments to offer new perspectives in various areas of economic research for Latin American countries, such as education, private provision of public goods, social preferences, and environmental economics (https://economics.uchicago.edu/blog/uchicago-and-ucema-create-joint-initiative-latin-american-experimental-economics-0).

JILAEE invites applications for two Post-Doctoral positions. The start date is August 2020, or earlier on agreement. Applicants from within applied microeconomics with an interest in field experiments will be given priority.

The main responsibility of the position is to lead large-scale field experiments in Latin America in various sectors. The term for the position is one year without teaching obligations. The post-docs will spend 8 months at UCEMA in Buenos Aires, working at JILAEE, and 4 months at UChicago, working in John List's experimental economics group.

These positions are ideal for persons who are planning to start a tenure-track appointment in 2021, and would like to do a one year post-doc prior to their appointment to develop their research pipeline. Preferred candidates have expertise in experimental economics/behavioral economics, and have experience with project/team management.

Knowledge of Spanish is not required.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the start date of this position, but may be ABD when applying. We will interview candidates at the ASSA meetings in San Diego (January 3-5, 2020). Selected candidates will be invited for a job talk.
