Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Foreign Service Institute of the U.S. Department of State seeks a Ph.D. economist with an outstanding teaching record, a strong interest in innovative curriculum design, and excellent communication skills for the position of International Economist in the Economic Studies Division. The individual will be part of a team of economists who teach U.S. career diplomats, whose work as economic officers domestically and abroad will directly affect U.S. foreign economic policies.

The successful candidate should have several years of teaching experience at the advanced undergraduate and/or Master's level with an emphasis on practical applications. Individual must have a strong background in basic Micro and Macro Theory and be flexible enough to teach on a range of applied policy topics within foreign affairs (recent examples include sanctions and the digital economy). Experience living and working abroad is also helpful as it lends credibility in the classroom. Position is a two-year appointment with renewal options of five-year appointments and requires U.S. citizenship.
