Senior Economist
MITRE is currently seeking a Senior Principal Economist to help lead the growth of our economics work in the transportation domain, and to enhance the development and application of our capabilities to problems of National importance. MITRE is engaged in many fulfilling opportunities that includes econometrics, forecasting, cost benefit analysis, policy analysis, and economic modeling for the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation, the Department of the Treasure, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, and other U.S. Government stakeholders. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment with a collegial team of applied economists providing an analytic basis for decision-making with an emphasis on transportation and aviation economics, and transportation policy. The candidate will also engage with high-level sponsors and stakeholders across the U.S. and local Governments on issues of National importance. This is an applied research environment where tasks are rarely routine and often require novel approaches, abstract thinking, and data-based analytics. Minimum Qualifications
A candidate for this role must have knowledge and extensive experience in the following: Project leadership and work program development. Developing relationships and working closely with senior U.S. Government leadership to understand their needs. Econometric and economic modeling and analysis, domestic and international policy and investment analysis, cost benefit analysis, handling large datasets and data driven analysis, economic analysis in support of regulatory policy, pre- and post-implementation analysis, forecasting, and applied research. Background, experience, and existing positive relationships with government sponsors in the transportation domain; including aviation. Knowledge of performance and economic transportation data set; including aviation.

Preferred Qualifications
Proven track record of successfully applied economic analysis. Ability to apply novel approaches and creative thinking to ill-defined problems. Strong attention to detail and accountability required. Oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience with computable general equilibrium modeling is highly desired, not required. Experience working with state level government sponsors and/or working in surface transportation is desired, not required. PhD or equivalent and 15 years of related experience.
