Junior Professorship (m/f/d) in Economics with a focus on economic policy and/or economic history of North America

The successful applicant will assume responsibilities in research and teaching in the area of Economics with a focus on economic policy and/or economic history of North America.

Appointment requirements are governed by Article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
Successful candidates hold an excellent PhD in economics and are required to have verifiable teaching experience in an international environment as well as a distinguished record of research. We are looking for someone with proven knowledge of North American economic policy and/or economic history. Additionally, experience with grant-sponsored projects is required.

Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:

She or he will focus on research in North American economic policy and/or economic history and both conceptualize and teach courses in English at the John-F.-Kennedy-Institute, the Graduate School of North American Studies (GSNAS) and the School of Business & Economics. We expect the new junior professor to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration at the John-F.-Kennedy-Institute and the GSNAS. The appointee will address issues of Gender Studies in research and teaching as well as diversity issues relevant to the field.

The junior professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial period of three years. Reappointment is contingent upon positive evaluation of performance (Zwischenevaluation) and may be extended for three more years.

Applications should include a CV, copies of all certificates of academic qualification in German or English; if applicable the letter of appointment (please add translations if needed), a list of publications, a list of courses previously taught, and evidence of teaching competence. Furthermore, please include information on involvement in ongoing and future research endeavours, joint research projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language certificates. If applicable for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperation, inventions/patents and spin-offs.
