The Department of Economics offers an active and internationally oriented research environment. We look for a dynamic, motivated and internationally oriented researcher in econometrics.

Interested candidates should hold (or obtain prior to the start date of employment) a Ph.D. in Economics or in a related field with demonstrable expertise in Econometrics. Candidates are expected to have an excellent research record. The quality of the candidate’s research should be demonstrated by publications in top international peer-reviewed journals. Junior applicants (pre-tenure) can demonstrate research excellence with promising ongoing research projects or papers and academic references.

The candidate preferably has teaching experience and can demonstrate strong didactic skills. You are proficient in English. The official administrative language used at KU Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at the start of employment, KU Leuven will provide language training to enable you to take part in administrative meetings. Before teaching courses in Dutch, you will be given the opportunity to learn Dutch to the required standard.

The Department of Economics is located at the Leuven campus of the Faculty of Economics and Business. Leuven is a historical town, but also a dynamic and vibrant city in the centre of Belgium. It lies within a twenty-minute drive from Brussels, the capital of Belgium and of the European Union, and less than two hours from Paris, London and Amsterdam.

To facilitate scientific onboarding and accelerate research in the first phase a starting grant of 100.000 euro is offered to new professors without substantial other funding, appointed for at least 50%.
