Full Text of JOE Listing:

We are looking for a full-time research assistant to work for one to two years. Start date June or July 2019. This individual will work under Professor Bryce Steinberg at Brown University and Professor Manisha Shah at UCLA. The position will be housed at Brown University, UCLA, or the NBER office in Cambridge, MA.

Ideal Candidate Should Have:
(i) strong quantitative background
(ii) strong computer skills including programming and familiarity with statistics software such as Stata and SAS
(iii) ability to solve problems independently
(iv) long-term interest in research in economics and or finance. Background in economics is a plus.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Support faculty research projects; compile, manipulate, and analyze data using various search engines and software packages.

2. Obtain and organize information for research from other academic institutions and practitioners.

3. Proofread citations of funded research reports, working papers, and publications.

4. Communicate effectively with faculty members and outside institutions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Economics or other quantitative field required.

2. Relevant research experience preferred.

3. Familiarity with software such as Sas and Stata.
