University Lectureship in the Faculty of Economics Job Reference No: JH18565

The University of Cambridge invites applications for a University Lectureship ("Assistant Professor") Established in the Faculty of Economics as a Linked Appointment to be held in conjunction with a Fellowship and College Lectureship at the Trinity College available from 2 September 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates for the University Lecturer will either have publications in top international economic journals, or clearly be able to demonstrate that they have the capacity of doing so. It is required that candidates have a strong track record in teaching at a higher education institution and will have by September 2019 - a PhD in a relevant specialist subject. They will also be expected to undertake research with a view to publication in the best international journals and should already have achieved or demonstrated a potential to gain international recognition for their research.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of teaching tasks, act as an examiner as directed by the Faculty Board; and College responsibilities (including 6 hours supervising per week for 20 weeks per year, directing studies and admissions for undergraduate students in Economics) as directed by Trinity College.

Salary: For the position of University Lecturer, the current pensionable stipends are £40,792 - £51,630 (Lecturer, University Grade 9). In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range up to £72K for a period of 5 years (subject to budgetary approval). Any such supplement would be awarded on outstanding achievement and an expected future level of contribution and is at the discretion of the University.

The position of College Lecturer at Trinity College will be appointed at Step 5 for 6 hour Lecturers, the currently pensionable stipend is £9,520.00 per annum and will be paid in addition to the University salary. Variation is made for supervision and additional payments are made for direction of studies and for interviewing candidates for admission. There will be a number of benefits associated with a Fellowship of Trinity College including rent-free accommodation, housing allowances, assistance with computing and book purchases, free meals, medical insurance, potential assistance towards research expenses.
