Project: Integrated Lifecycle Approach to the Development of Health and Other Capabilities, (James Heckman, Principal Investigator)

The scholar will conduct empirical research on one or more focused aims of the project related to the economics of creating and measuring skills. Specifically, they will develop and apply economic models to analyze numerous large-scale data sets with life-cycle information to investigate the sources of health disparities, and the mechanisms that social policy can influence: schooling and the family environments of children. Through mutually agreed upon approaches, they will investigate the causal foundations of the contemporaneous empirical association between health and socioeconomic status, including education, and the association between health and socioeconomic outcomes at all stages of the life cycle and life-cycle environments and investments.
Unique data sets on long-term experimental evaluations are available and the Post-Doctoral Scholar will have access to high quality graduate and undergraduate research assistants.

• PhD in Economics required
• Strong background in applied econometrics required
• Doctoral thesis on education and/or health, related to the aims of this project required
