The Department of Economics in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks applicants for both full- and part-time Lecturer I positions for both Fall Semester 2019 and Winter Semester 2020, pending budget authorization. These are non-tenure track positions.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field prior to commencement of appointment on either September 1, 2019 or January 1, 2020. We are most interested in candidates with methodological strengths/training in theoretical or applied econometrics and who have a strong teaching record at the undergraduate level.

Duties of a Lecturer I position are expected to include teaching sections of the undergraduate curriculum at the 200-, 300- and/or 400-level, and/or masters level courses at the 500-level, developing course materials, evaluating and grading students, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and handling routine matters related to instruction.

Anticipated Term of Appointment:
Appointments are available as Fall Semester only, Winter Semester only, or both Fall and Winter Semesters

Anticipated Per-Semester Appointment Effort:

A typical full-time (100% effort) load for a Lecturer I in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is three courses per semester.

Available appointment efforts are 33% (one course), 67% (two courses) or 100% (3 courses) per semester.

The positions, as described in this posting, are covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers’ Employee Organization, AFL-CIO.
