The Department of Economics at Colby College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position starting September 1, 2019.

We are searching for an economist with a strong demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses. We invite candidates from any field to apply, but are primarily interested in scholars excited about and prepared to teach courses in research methods and statistics, econometrics, and elective field courses.

Colby is a highly selective liberal arts college located in central Maine with high standards for teaching and engagement. Our students are motivated, intellectually curious, and committed to their studies. We especially encourage applications from underrepresented groups in economics and are looking for candidates that can engage and support students from different cultural, demographic, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Application dossiers must include: a cover letter that describes your motivation for applying to Colby; your curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; your graduate transcript; and evidence of classroom teaching effectiveness. Preference for candidates to have completed a Ph.D. prior to September 1, 2019; ABD candidates will be considered.
