The Department of Economics of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University invites applications for a full-time, one-year sabbatical replacement appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics beginning in August 2019. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until March 15, 2019.

We are seeking an economist who specializes in teaching empirical industrial organization to undergraduates. A focus in financial institutions and services is preferred. The successful candidate will teach the department’s one-semester Introduction to Economics course (EC 111), Industrial Organization and Public Policy (EC 376), Market Structures and Firm Strategy (EC 320) or Economics of Financial Institutions and Markets (EC 314), and another advanced (Tier III) course in microeconomics.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Economics by August 2019. They are required to have completed graduate coursework in industrial organization. Applicants must have a minimum of one year of solo college/university teaching experience in principles of economics in face-to-face undergraduate classrooms. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in teaching one-semester introductory economics courses and undergraduate industrial organization. Readiness for teaching a course in financial institutions and markets is also preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong teaching skills that include the ability to employ effective pedagogies in small classroom settings and the ability to adapt teaching in response to constructive feedback from students and/or peers. Applicants must have effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion and the desire to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

The College of Saint Benedict (CSB), a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John’s University (SJU), a liberal arts college for men, are located in the central lakes area of Minnesota.
