The Economics Department at Case Western Reserve University is seeking a qualified applicant for a unique postdoctoral opportunity created through a partnership between the department and Unify Project, a high-tech nonprofit committed to creating an expanding economy powered by inclusive prosperity.

To disrupt the status quo, Unify Project is aggregating, integrating and analyzing a universe of data using leading-edge methodologies and technologies, with the ultimate goal of generating knowledge to drive all sectors to better invest resources and align policies to achieve sustained and shared prosperity. Cleveland is Unify Project’s pilot market. Unify Project seeks a results-oriented economics PhD with expertise in computational economics to help forward this goal. The position affords a unique opportunity to conduct academic and applied research on issues relating to economic development, poverty/inequality, and economic mobility. (Some activities undertaken at Unify Project will be proprietary in nature, and not suitable for publishable research.)

The duration of the postdoc contract is one-year, with annual renewals for up to three years. The annual salary for the position will be $75,000 plus benefits, starting July 1, 2019.
During the postdoc, the selected individual would serve as a visiting faculty member in the Economics Department and as an in-house economics consultant for Unify Project. The individual would have an office at both locations, with roughly half their time devoted to projects forwarding the goals of Unify Project. As a visiting faculty member, the individual would be expected to teach two courses for the Economics Department each academic year.

Applicants should have received a PhD within the last two years (or approaching completion) in Economics or a closely-related area.
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis, but are due no later than May 1, 2019.
