The University of San Francisco seeks candidates for an open faculty position in the Department of Economics at the advanced Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning in August 2019. The faculty member will teach in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Economics, the Masters of Science in Applied Economics and the Masters of Science in International and Development Economics programs. The faculty member will also serve as the Program Director, developing, promoting the new M.S. Applied Economics program and its curriculum. This program will focus on the emerging economics of digitization and the ways in which public and private organizations can use information technologies and new sources of data to change the way they operate. The standard teaching load for a tenure-track position at USF is two 4-unit courses per semester with an additional third course every fourth semester (2-2-2-3 over two years). Program Directors receive some course release time for their administrative duties. Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in service to their department, college, and university, as well as maintain an active research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students when possible.

We are looking for candidates with experience in academic program innovation, management and administration, a strong record of excellence in research, and passion for teaching and pedagogy.

The ideal candidate will:
• Be prepared for and excited by the prospect of leading the development of a new graduate program which will train students in the skills they will need to contribute to the tech economy in the Bay Area and beyond.
• Exhibit significant academic program management experience, including curriculum design, marketing, recruitment, and career placement
• Demonstrate significant research productivity, future potential, and professional engagement in their field
• Possess a strong record of teaching in a liberal arts environment
• Have experience teaching and supervising graduate students
• Be able to develop and teach courses in International Economics and the Economics of Digitization at the graduate level
• Exhibit an entrepreneurial, forward-looking mindset and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrate familiarity with the analytical and technical skills in demand by technology companies
• An understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required
• Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant field by August 31, 2019.
