Background

The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is a large and vibrant School with around 3,000 students (one third postgraduate) and over 250 staff in seven Departments: Economics, English, International Politics, Journalism, Music, Sociology and Psychology. The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading or internationally excellent research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.
Responsibilities
The Department of Economics is a leading centre for research and undergraduate and postgraduate education. The Department has core research strengths in development economics; experimental and behavioural economics; financial economics and econometrics; health economics; macroeconomics; and microeconomics. It has hosted several academic conferences in recent years and runs an internal and external research seminar series.

The Department delivers a growing PhD programme, alongside its highly successful BSc and MSc programmes and is part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnership funded by the ESRC.

Person Specification
The Department is seeking to appoint outstanding academics to Senior Lectureship or Readership positions in any field of Economics. The appointed candidates will have excellent track records in research and experience of bidding for external funding. They will perform world-leading or internationally excellent research; will engage in the delivery of education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; will participate in the supervision of students; and will contribute fully to the life and work of the Department.
