Academic Career & Executive Search is pleased to assist Auburn University in their Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology ALFA Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair search.
The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (DAERS) is seeking a Full or Associate Professor for an Eminent Scholar position. The ALFA Eminent Scholar endowment supports:
1) continuing and improving an outstanding scholarly research record
2) teaching undergraduate and graduate programs
3) providing leadership in a specific research area in partnership with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Auburn University, state, national, and international organizations and stakeholders.
The chair strengthens and enhances farm and agribusiness management (marketing, production, and finance) program, and agriculture policy (farm, domestic ag , trade policies, ag law) and through leadership, is a positive role model for colleagues and students.
The ALFA Eminent Scholar Chair is a nine-month, teaching and research appointment with expectations for summer funding. The titled professorship has a five-year renewable term with tenure in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology.

The ideal candidate:
Is student achievement centric
Demonstrates research, teaching, and service /outreach excellence
Authored nationally and internationally recognized books and scholarly journal publications
Is adept at fundraising
Has strong research and teaching skills at a tiered Agri College
Engages effectively with stakeholders: Agricultural producers, industry, non-profit organizations, and organizations formulating food and agriculture policies
Equally comfortable with campus and off campus constituencies

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in agricultural economics or related field
Candidate must meet university and departmental standards for tenure and promotion at the Associate or Full Professor level
Meet United States work eligibility requirements throughout the term of employment

The Department:
Discovering and transmitting socio-economic knowledge to Alabama and the world is DAERS’ mission. They achieve this through their teaching, research and extension programs in conjunction with other College of Agriculture departments, industry and organizations.

The ALFA Eminent Scholar’s salary is negotiable and competitive based on qualifications. The endowment provides a salary supplement and support funds annually for incumbent's research program. The starting date is negotiable (after the closing date). Research/teaching percentages in the appointment are also negotiable.
