The School of Social Science and Global Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2019. A Ph.D. in Economics or a related discipline is required by the time of the appointment.

The Economics program is seeking candidates in applied micro/labor economics with an active research agenda, strong empirical skills, and an ongoing commitment to effective teaching. The position is open with respect to subfields. Research and teaching interests might include, but are not limited to labor, big data analysis, applied microeconometrics, immigration, health economics, and public economics. Candidates with other primary fields but research and teaching interests in these subfields are strongly encouraged to apply.

We seek a candidate to teach our policy-based survey course, principles of microeconomics and statistics/econometrics courses along with upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Special interest will be given to candidates with an interest and ability to supervise undergraduate research. Interviews will be held at the ASSA meetings in Atlanta.
