Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania seeks to hire a Professor of Practice who will bring distinguished professional experience in the public or non-profit sector to its Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. The main responsibilities will be to teach 3 classes per year, supervise student capstone projects, provide students with career and academic advising, work with our career services director to develop students’ professional networks, and help the faculty directors to lead the program. Candidates should be able to teach classes in public economics, program evaluation, public finance and budgeting, and/or other related areas of public administration and public policy suitable for an MPA program.

This position is a non-tenure track position, and the faculty member will serve under a multi-year renewable position that is contingent on successful review. Candidates must have either a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal professional degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related social science discipline. We strongly prefer candidates who have prior professional experience in the public or non-profit sectors as well as prior teaching experience at the collegiate level. Familiarity with data analysis and an ability to help students translate quantitative findings into recommendations for policymakers will be important in this position.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three professional references. Application materials should be submitted online at http://facultysearches.provost.upenn.edu/postings/1445. We will begin reviewing applications immediately and continue until the position is filled.
