Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Lee Business School and Department of Economics invites applications for an open rank tenured or tenure track Lee Professorship of Economics and Data Analytics [R0112273]. Preference will be given to applicants qualified for a Senior Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The department seeks to hire a scholar whose research agenda includes determining how statistical and machine-learning techniques can be used to examine business and economic problems, as well as developing new techniques to address these problems. The department also seeks candidates whose active research areas include such fields as Industrial Organization, Health Economics, Public Policy, and Entrepreneurship, but other fields may be considered. Because many interesting economic/business problems can be refined into predictive and causal components, the department is interested in candidates operating on the frontier of intersecting causal inference with the data-driven methods of machine learning. Requirements of the position include conducting significant research leading to high-quality refereed publications and performing service activities for the department, school, university and profession. This position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in data analytics and the candidate’s field of expertise. Interested candidates may be involved executive education and professional certificate programs.

The salary for this position is competitive with similarly situated institutions. The Lee Professorship provides additional support in the form of stipends and additional travel/research funds.

Qualifications
Completed PhD in Economics; Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research in applied economics and machine/statistical learning; Demonstrated ability to publish in leading academic journals; Demonstrated ability to be a high-quality teacher at graduate and undergraduate levels.

The position will remain open until filled. Review of candidates’ materials will begin on December 1, 2018 and best consideration will be gained for materials submitted prior to that date.
