The School of Economics and Finance at Universidad EAFIT is considering applicants for an Associate or Full Professor job opening (June 2019). The job title is Director of the Research Center in Economics and Finance (CIEF). Applicants from any field will be considered. This is a full-time tenure track position with salary and rank open, depending on the qualifications of the applicant.

Universidad EAFIT is located in Medellín, Colombia. The School of Economics and Finance ranks among the top five in the country. Our goal is to support faculty for them to excel in both teaching and research. We offer graduate research assistants, travel funds for international conferences and 14 monthly salaries per year plus benefits.

Main job responsibilities of the Director are:

(1) Develop a strong research agenda.
(2) Teach one graduate course per year (approximately 8 weeks).
(3) Develop a strategy to promote and oversee the quality, quantity and impact of research and consultancy projects by faculty from the Department of Economics and the Department of Finance.
(4) Mentor junior faculty and research assistants.
(5) Oversee and manage the research resources housed at the School of Economics and Finance.
(6) Organize academic events and policy debates.

The Director reports directly to the Dean of the School of Economics and Finance.

Requirements:

(1) Ph.D. in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, or Finance. Degrees obtained abroad must be recognized by the Colombian Ministry of Education. This requirement can be met after the candidate has been hired and is already residing and working in Colombia.

(2) Full professor: At least eight years of teaching and research experience as full-time professor at a higher education institution. Otherwise, a minimum of ten years of professional or research experience. Associate professor: At least five years of teaching and research experience as full-time professor at a higher education institution. Otherwise, a minimum of seven years of professional or research experience.

(3) Full professor: At least nine publications in the last four years. At least four of such publications must be indexed on the WoS or SCOPUS databases on the Q1 or Q2 quartiles. Associate professor: At least seven publications in the last four years. At least three of such publications must be indexed on the WoS or SCOPUS databases on the Q1 or Q2 quartiles.
