Full Text of JOE Listing:

The USITC is an independent federal agency that provides objective economic assessments of government policies, commercial practices, and other issues related to international trade and investment. The agency is consistently ranked as one of best places to work among federal agencies. Economists at the USITC work in multi-disciplinary teams to provide econometric, survey, and modeling expertise in USITC studies for the President, the U.S. Trade Representative, and Congress.

The Office of Economics develops econometric and computable trade models, advances and publishes independent research, conducts surveys and country analysis. Economists contribute to Commission reports, engage in strategic research initiatives, and participate in research groups (e.g., gravity.usitc.gov). They have access to a large number of international trade experts, data and other research resources, training opportunities, travel to domestic and international conferences, and an active seminar series and visiting scholar program.

The Office of Economics anticipates openings for junior- and senior-level international economists. Candidates for the junior position are expected to have completed a Ph.D. by the date of appointment; candidates for the senior position are expected to show an active publication record. Researchers in all areas of international economics are encouraged to apply.
