Full Text of JOE Listing:

The George L. Agyros School of Business and Economic at Chapman University invites applications for a faculty position in Finance, beginning August 2019. The position is open at either the tenure-track assistant, associate, or full professor level. Applicants with research interests in any area of finance are encouraged to apply.

Tenured applicants with several years’ experience beyond the doctoral degree are preferred. Candidates for a tenured position must have an outstanding record of scholarly achievement and provide evidence of teaching excellence. There is a possibility of an endowed chair for the appropriate full professor candidate, and those who would be able to lead a real estate initiative would have preference (though this is not a requirement).

Tenure-track applicants must have a doctoral degree by August 1, 2019 and demonstrate the potential for publishing high-quality academic research and excellent teaching. Duties include establishing or continuing a research program in the candidate’s field, teaching, and mentoring students. Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching and service.

The successful candidate may be appointed to Chapman University's Economic Science Institute as a Research Associate. Led by Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith, the Economic Science Institute is part of the Argyros School of Business and Economics and houses nationally recognized scholars providing collaborative research opportunities applied to a wide variety of issues in economics and management. The position offers a competitive salary and a summer research stipend as well as a discretionary research budget.

The Argyros School is fully accredited by AACSB and offers bachelor’s degrees in business administration, economics, and accounting as well as the MBA and EMBA. The School currently has 1,600 undergraduates and 300 graduate students who attend classes in a modern 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. Additional information can be found at http://www.chapman.edu/argyros.

Associate and Full Professor applicants should also include examples of published research in top-tier and other high-quality research journals. Please use “Finance Faculty Position” in the subject line. While the deadline for submitting applications is January 1, 2019, review of applications will start August 31, 2019 and continue until the position is filled. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. This position is subject to final budget approval.
