The Department of Health Law, Policy & Management (HLPM) in the Boston University School of Public Health invites applications for a new full time faculty position. Candidates must have demonstrated research interest and expertise in health economics and applied econometrics. The growing department is dedicated to research and education that focuses on improving access, quality and value in healthcare to vulnerable populations, in line with the mission of the School of Public Health, the Medical School, and the adjacent Boston Medical Center, a safety-net hospital. The department is also affiliated with a health services research center of excellence and an evidence-based policy resource center embedded in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. HLPM believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our research and academic programs. The School of Public Health takes the University’s commitment even further with its own detailed plan for fostering a diverse and inclusive community. Currently, HLPM has 48 primary faculty members who teach 80 courses annually, serving students in the Master of Public Health, Master of Science and/or doctoral programs. Faculty members conduct research supported by NIH, CDC, and other public and private sources in Medicaid and Medicare policy, health reform, health economics, health outcomes measurement, implementation science, health disparities and equity, mental health, substance use, HIV/AIDS and quality of care.

Each faculty member is expected to maintain a portfolio of externally funded scholarly research. Duties will include teaching health economics and advising MPH, MS and/or doctoral students. Faculty will work under a system of continuously rolling multi-year appointments. A doctoral degree in Economics, Public Policy, Health Services Research, or a related field is required. Ranks are open (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor).
