Dartmouth College solicits applications and nominations for the position of the Director of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Social Sciences. The Rockefeller Center is a catalyst for public policy research, teaching, and deliberation. Dedicated to providing an interdisciplinary perspective on policy-related topics, the Center fosters a commitment to the ideals of public service and informed public debate exemplified by Nelson A. Rockefeller, former governor of New York State and Vice President of the United States. The Director will lead a variety of activities related to public policy, including research initiatives, grants, conferences, speakers, experiential learning, and leadership development programs for students. The Rockefeller Center is an important and vibrant institution on campus, and we seek someone who will support and stimulate existing efforts and encourage new initiatives.

We are searching for an individual who has demonstrated expertise in social science research and a proven ability to work with people across disciplines at a variety of levels. We welcome internal as well as external candidates. The successful candidate for Director preferably would be tenurable in one of the social science departments or programs and have a record of excellence in research, classroom teaching, and professional service. Dartmouth student populations are diverse by many measures. We are especially interested in applicants with a record of successful collaboration, teaching, and mentoring of people from all backgrounds (including first-generation college students, low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ, etc.). We welcome applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. Applicants are encouraged to state in their cover letter how they will enhance the diversity of offerings and educational experiences at Dartmouth College. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
