The University of Washington (UW) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and creative leader to serve as the next Orin and Janet Smith Dean of the Michael G. Foster School of Business (Foster). Under the leadership of James Jiambalvo, the Foster School has had a meteoric rise in prominence and prestige, capitalizing upon the growth and vibrancy of Seattle’s booming economy, innovative culture, and diverse business community. The next Dean must continue this tremendous momentum while championing new opportunities for growth and distinction. Situated in one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States serving a flourishing high tech and manufacturing sector, the School is well positioned to continue its upward trajectory and to become the premier public business school in the world.

The next Dean of the Foster School will address a wide range of opportunities and challenges to meet its aspirations, most notably:
• Establish and champion an inspiring vision for the Foster School of Business;
• Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion among all Foster community members;
• Generate and identify innovative and novel ways to grow and support students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders;
• Identify opportunities for new and existing programs to move the School forward;
• Ensure strong operational management, resource generation, and fundraising;
• Continue to build partnerships inside and outside the university.
