Giant Oak has an opening for an experienced Social or Data Scientist with broad technical skills across quantitative social science and machine learning methods, as well as engineering/architecture and prototype development. Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams is required, leadership experience a significant plus. Candidates should have experience in project management, customer relationship management, and business development for projects involving advanced technologies. This role requires scientific, engineering, architecture, and program/project/people management components - strong candidates will have experience in each of these areas.

Required:

- Ph.D. in economics (specializations: industrial organization, regulatory economics, financial economics/econometrics, or applied econometrics preferred).
- Fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or C++; significant Python experience required).
- Program management and project leadership experience; demonstrated abilities to manage up, down, and across. Experience working with government customers desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Eligibility for a U.S. Security Clearance.

Preferred:

- Experience designing software architectures using open source technologies for big data analytic systems in cloud environments.
- Experience with a variety of ML methods (anomaly detection methods desired) along with NLP, IE, and ETL methods.
- Experience with financial forensics and statistical approaches to fraud detection.
