The HEB School of Business & Administration at University of the Incarnate Word seeks to hire an Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics starting fall 2018. Teaching is the primary focus of the faculty at the University. Faculty members are expected to plan and execute scholarly activities, which benefit teaching. These activities/projects must be in alignment with the goals and Mission of the University. The scholarly activities will be related to the Economics discipline. In addition, active scholarly agenda within Economics discipline is expected. The university values small class sizes. The normal load is 4 courses per semester but competitive release time is available.

Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.

The successful candidate must be able to engage with students as well as collaborate with colleagues to ensure the Economics Curriculum is current. The successful candidate must also be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. High quality scholarship related to the candidate’s teaching field is expected. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Earned doctorate in Economics with a graduate major, minor, or concentration in Development Economics with 18 hours of graduate courses in Economics is required. Candidates may be in the process of completing their educational requirements, but should be in a position to have their terminal degree awarded by December 2018 to be hired as an Assistant Professor.Demonstrated knowledge and congenial understanding of Catholic Social Teachings and teaching experience is preferred.
