The Bank of Canada plays a vital role in shaping the economic and financial well-being of Canadians. Canada’s central bank is a dynamic, engaged and trusted institution that conducts monetary policy to preserve low, stable and predictable inflation, helps to ensure the soundness and resilience of the financial system, issues Canada’s bank notes, and acts as fiscal agent to the Government of Canada.
Reporting to the Senior Deputy Governor, the Managing Director of Economic and Financial Research leads the Bank’s research activities. He/she is responsible for setting and implementing the strategic direction of the Bank’s research team, and for ensuring that the Bank is positioned to make well-informed policy decisions supported by high- quality research. The Managing Director raises the profile of the Bank’s research through publications in top tier economic journals, public commentary, and participation in conferences and seminars.
As the ideal candidate, you have a track record of conducting high-quality, innovative research in economics or finance that is confirmed in your strong publication record. You have excellent communication skills and you are a motivating leader with the ability to lead experienced research teams. You have a PhD in Economics, Finance, or a related field, and a minimum of 10 years of experience or an equivalent level of education and experience.
