Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We welcome scholars from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds including, but not limited to: epidemiology, implementation science, pharmacoepidemiology, operations research, health economics, political science, organizational theory and management, sociology, or other relevant social sciences.

A doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, Dr PH, ScD, DBA) or an MD, by the start of appointment, and post-doctoral research experience is required, as well as evidence of potential for a scholarly career that will include publications, successful grant writing, and teaching.

The successful candidate will work closely with the newly formed Yale Program in Addiction Medicine situated in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Section of General Internal Medicine.

Research in substance use and addiction–problems of access, quality, and implementation in general medical settings– is a critical growth area for YSPH. Scholarly work in this area requires the convening of interdisciplinary research teams whose technical expertise integrates the traditional methods of public health (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics) to embrace a broader set of skills (e.g., law, policy, ethics, economics, management, and operations research). Important content areas closely aligned with a focus on substance use and addiction include prevention, controlled substance prescribing, pain, overdose, HIV, and Hepatitis C.

The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively across various graduate schools at Yale and develop an externally funded research program leading to top tier peer-reviewed publications. Finally, the successful candidate will teach MPH and PhD students.

Review of applications will commence on March 1, 2018 and continue until successful candidates are identified. Applicants are asked to prepare a letter of interest which includes a research statement, three references, a curriculum vitae and copies of recent publications, and to apply online at:
