Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy at NYU School of Law is accepting applications for a research fellow (“Engelberg Center Research Fellow”) to begin in Fall 2018.  The fellowship term is for two years. Applicants should hold a law degree or a Ph.D. in a relevant area, and show interest and promise in conducting research and writing.   We are seeking applicants with demonstrated interest in quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of areas of interest to the Center, which broadly embrace the incentives that motivate innovators, how those incentives vary among different types of creative endeavor, and the laws and policies that help or hinder them.

The Engelberg Center Research Fellow will devote time to his/her own research and writing, to collaborative projects, to planning Engelberg Center events, and to developing content for the Engelberg Center website.  Teaching may be an option, depending on availability and interest.  Collaborative projects will be supervised by Engelberg Center faculty co-directors.

The Fellow is expected to reside in the New York area and participate in Engelberg Center activities, including Engelberg Center faculty workshops and the Center’s annual Tristate Region IP Workshop. The Fellow will also have ample opportunity to interact with faculty in the School of Law and other departments at NYU, and to take part in the lively intellectual life of the NYU community and New York City.

Applications (by email) and inquiries should be addressed to the Engelberg Center Executive Director (Anne Hassett, annemarie.hassett@nyu.edu) and should include: a CV, copies of 2 relevant publications or writing samples, a transcript of graduate work (unofficial is acceptable), the names and contact information of three references, and a cover letter specifying a research and writing project that the candidate wishes to carry out during the period of the fellowship, as well as a summary of the candidate’s relevant background and accomplishments and outlining his or her perceived fit with the Engelberg Center.  We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
