Executive Director, Institute for the Study of Economic Growth

Wichita State University seeks to fill the position of Director of the newly created Institute for the Study of Economic Growth, housed in W. Frank Barton School of Business. The mission of the Institute is to be a world class research center for the exploration of market and enterprise systems that have the greatest impact on the economic prosperity of society. The Institute seeks to advance the teaching, research and application of innovation and entrepreneurial activities in a free enterprise economy to enhance societal prosperity through economic growth. Towards this end, the director will actively promote and support research and teaching in these areas. The director is also expected to seek extramural funding for research and other business and community outreach activities related to the Institute’s mission.

Based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, this will be a tenured or tenure-track position in the Department of Economics. In addition to the administrative responsibilities of the Institute, the successful candidate is expected to have some teaching responsibility, (the willingness to teach online is a plus), and ongoing scholarly, applied, or practitioner oriented research in areas relevant to the Institute’s mission. The Institute plans include hiring two other full time faculty members, as well as a full-time lecturer and student research fellows and assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in economics or related field
Demonstrated record of scholarly, applied or practitioner-oriented research in markets, enterprise systems, policy or economic growth
Experience in external fundraising

Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative experience in leading faculty or staff
Experience serving in a similar capacity at an institute or center
