Organization:
Precision Agriculture for Development (PAD) is a non-profit organization with a mission to support smallholder farmers in developing countries by providing customized information and services that increase productivity, profitability, and environmental sustainability.

PAD works with partners to design, build, assess, and improve customized mobile phone-based agricultural advisory systems. In this process, PAD also conducts research to inform program designs, identify market and behavioral failures, and test potential solutions. All PAD’s research projects are led by Shawn Cole (Harvard Business School) and Michael Kremer (Harvard University).

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with PAD and affiliated researchers to develop and undertake experimental research
• Provide guidance and supervision to PAD’s field teams on research implementation
• Develop journal articles, working papers, and policy briefs
• Participate in preparing grant proposals and donor reports

Qualifications:
• PhD in economics, agricultural economics, public policy, or related field
• Experience with research in developing countries
• Experience with field experiments
• Strong communication skills
• Experience in agriculture and technology for development
• Ability to work independently in a global start-up NGO environment
• Willingness to be based in one of PAD’s field sites, or to travel up to 40%

Start: July 2018
Commitment: Two years
