Full Text of JOE Listing:

We invite applications for semester-or year-long visiting researcher positions for the 2018-19 academic year.
Visiting positions are sponsored by the MSU Initiative for Regulatory and Applied Economic Analysis, which is housed in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics (see www.montana.edu/regecon for more information).

The mission of the initiative is to engage undergraduate and graduate students with faculty in academic research that will further the understanding of economic regulation and policy’s impact on societal well-being. The initiative awards research grants, research fellowships, and research assistantships to facilitate research, analysis, and teaching of regulatory economics as applied to agriculture, healthcare, technology, finance, natural resources, education, public safety, and other sectors; leverages the University’s geographic position and research track record to inform the public policy debate on state, regional, and national issues; has lasting impact on undergraduate and graduate students by providing support to enable their research on relevant public policy topics; and enhances the intellectual capital of MSU faculty and other universities or centers by providing research and teaching opportunities. Research will be in regulatory economics as applied to agriculture, healthcare, technology, finance, natural resources, education, public safety, and other sectors of the economy and is expected to result in publications in leading disciplinary refereed journals and related shorter white papers intended to communicate the research to a broad audience.

Scholars will be given office space and are expected to reside in or around Bozeman and to be active contributors to the initiative's programs. Scholars will also be provided a $5,000 budget for research-related expenses. This position is ideal for tenured faculty on semester-or year-long sabbaticals from their current institutions.
