The Department of Social Sciences at St. Joseph’s College invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Economics on the Long Island campus with a start date in August, 2018. The successful candidate will have a 4/4 teaching load. Courses are capped at 30 students. Responsibilities include teaching principles and elective courses, undergraduate advisement and mentoring, and working with colleagues to strengthen SJC’s Economics program.

Teaching excellence is required. The candidate should possess a PhD in economics, or be "ABD" with expectation of completion of the degree by August. The candidate should also show promise of productive scholarship. Candidates from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

SJC prides itself on providing a strong academic and values-oriented education in the liberal arts tradition at its two campuses in Long Island and in Brooklyn. The Long Island campus is located minutes from vibrant downtown Patchogue and from the Great South Bay. Patchogue is connected by ferry to Fire Island, and by rail to New York City.
