For performing an upcoming EU project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Koenig, Goethe University’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is seeking to fill the position of a

Postdoctoral Researcher
(100% Position)

We work in collaboration with the research program SAFE (Sustainable Architecture for Finance in Europe) which is funded by the Hessian excellence initiative LOEWE and promotes research and independent policy advice on all aspects of modern financial markets.

We are looking for
A postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in Economic History, Information Systems, Business Administration, Economics, or Computer Science to lead the project EURHISFIRM (“Historical high-quality company-level data in Europe 1815 - 1970”) financed by the European Union. The objective is to design and evaluate a research infrastructure (RI) to connect and share standardized long-term financial, governance, and geographical data of European companies. The RI provides the tools for long-term analysis highlighting the dynamics of the past and the way those dynamics structure our present and future. The researcher will work on the development and evaluation of the RI as a common data used via common communication across countries.

Your Profile
• Holds a PhD in Economics, Economic History, Information Systems, Business Administration, or Computer Science,
preferably with empirical research and a focus in finance.
• Excellent knowledge of the Finance literature.
• Excellent knowledge of Data Standardization and Communication Standards
• Experience with building large databases of primary and secondary data.
• Advanced skills in IT and statistical software packages.
• Excellent knowledge of English and German would be an asset.
• Ability to work independently
• Flexibility and Team work abilities.

We offer
The infrastructure of a modern research center with excellent contacts to the scientific and financial community. You will be working in a very attractive environment in the House of Finance at Goethe University and an enthusiastic team of colleagues. Compensation will be a full time position in accordance with the standards of the public services wage agreement of the State of Hessen (TV-H E 13). Employment should begin by 01st. April 2018. The employment contract has a duration of 36 months.
