NCAER is in the process of setting up a National Data Innovation Centre (NDIC) that will serve as a laboratory for experiments in data collection, interfacing with partners in think tanks, Indian and international universities, and government. NCAER is partnering with the Universities of Maryland and Michigan for the NDIC.

NCAER is looking for a Deputy Director who will form a part of the management of the NDIC and of NCAER, and will work closely with the NDIC Director engage in high quality, technology focused data collection innovations.

The Deputy Director will be appointed at NCAER as either a Fellow (Associate Professor Equivalent) or as a Senior Fellow (Professor equivalent). The appointment will be on a renewable, 3-year contract with a probationary period of one year.

Requirements for the position include a 1) Ph.D. in economics, survey methodology, statistics, public policy, sociology or demography with strong quantitative skills; 2) 5-15 years of research experience in areas germane to the mission of NDIC; 3) program or product management experience dealing with large-scale data collection. Candidates with a world class master’s degree and exceptional survey research experience may apply if they meet other criteria.
