The Department of Economics at Portland State University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position beginning in September 2018. We are conducting a search in any area of econometrics (JEL Codes: C1 through C5), with preferred secondary interests in labor economics (JEL Code: J), urban economics (JEL Code: R) and/or industrial organization (JEL Code: L).

ASSA Interview:
We will interview shortlisted applicants at the 2018 ASSA annual meeting in Philadelphia. In determining the pool of interviewees, we will give preference to applicants who send us a signal using the JOE signaling system.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct academic research for publication
• Present and discuss research at scholarly meetings
• Advise graduate and undergraduate students
• Teaching load of up to two courses per term includes courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Assist with curriculum development
• Contribute fully to departmental, college and university service.
• Contribute fully to the intellectual environment of the Department, College and University

Required Qualifications:
• Candidates should have completed a PhD field specialization in econometrics.
• Candidates must complete all requirements for the Ph.D. prior to September 2018.
• Qualifications for appointment include a distinguished Ph.D. record, evidence of commitment to research, teaching and creating community partnerships.
• Candidates are expected to display exceptional ability to teach a diverse student body at an urban university.
