The Community Development Studies and Education Department seeks an economist, at either the junior or senior level, to conduct independent applied research on topics relevant to community and economic development and consumer credit and payments.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Conducts independent applied research and produces highly specialized and complex original research reports
- Exercises a key leadership role in planning the department's research agenda
- Prepares and delivers speeches in area of expertise
- Develop relationships with external researchers and practitioners

Candidates must demonstrate the potential to conduct high-quality research and have superior writing and speaking skills. Preference will be given to candidates with related work experience and a Ph.D. in economics, finance, statistics, city planning or another quantitative social science discipline.
