Full Text of JOE Listing:

Uber Data Science is looking for econometricians or applied economists with superb technical skills and a passion for tackling hard problems with huge real-world impact.

Joining one of our teams is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of changing the world of transportation forever. This is your chance to make economics come to life by bringing together great ideas, cutting-edge information technology, and the power of markets.

Our teams consists of highly trained economists, statisticians, operations researchers, and computational scientists who combine theoretical insight with stringent data analysis to maximize the efficiency of every part of Uber’s real-time worldwide marketplace.

We tackle problems such as optimizing Uber’s dynamic pricing engine; providing supply positioning guidance to drivers; optimizing dispatches of drivers to incoming requests; developing and testing incentive schemes for drivers and riders; matching riders together for UberPool; structuring menus and predicting orders for UberEATS; and improving understanding of all aspects of rider and driver behavior through thoughtful experimentation.

As a Data Scientist at Uber you will guide product decisions and enhance the algorithms that operate Uber's worldwide marketplace. This is an opportunity to combine big picture economic thinking with careful data analysis based on skills in causal inference, experimentation, time series analysis, and spatial statistics. You will work side-by-side with Uber's engineering team to scale out your ideas across Uber's real-time production systems.

We are seeking applicants with the following attributes:
- Ability to think creatively and insightfully about business-relevant problems
- Masters or PhD in econometrics or applied microeconomics with an emphasis on statistical analysis
- Proficiency with analytical tools such as R, Python, Matlab, Stata, or EViews
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL a plus
- Software development skills in one or more of C, C++, Java, Python, or similar a plus.

We are actively hiring and are always interested in hearing from exceptional candidates. We will be at the January 2018 AEA/ASSA conference in Philadelphia but will consider candidates for start dates as early as November 2017.

This is your chance to help build a universal product with global reach. We're bringing Uber to every major city in the world and rethinking the transportation industry as we go. We need brains and passion to help make it happen and to make it happen with style!
