Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Bank of Finland Research Unit is hiring up to two experienced or new PhDs. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in macroeconomics or financial economics, preferably with focus on monetary and macroprudential policy, banking or financial stability. The Unit’s main task is to produce research with policy relevance in central banking, and to publish it in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. The researchers’ responsibilities also include policy work in their respective areas of expertise.

The Bank of Finland is the national monetary authority and a member of the Eurosystem. The Research Unit offers a stimulating international research environment in one the world's most livable cities. We organize a research seminar series, conferences and a visiting scholars program. We provide generous funds for conference travel, access to databases and high-performance computing.

Required Qualifications:
– Doctorate in Economics or Finance
– Ability to conduct and publish high-quality, policy-relevant research
– Ability to work in a team
– Excellent written and presentation skills in English.

The Research Unit's working language is English. Knowledge of Finnish is not required. Salary and benefits are competitive with those of other European central banks and academic positions.

Interviews will be conducted at the ASSA Conference in Philadelphia.
