NCAER is India's oldest and largest independent, non-profit, economic research institute. It does grant-funded research, studies for governments and industry, and is known for its data collection. NCAER staff enjoy a world-class campus in New Delhi.

We seek researchers excited by the analytical, data, and political challenges of evidence-based policymaking. NCAER provides unparalleled opportunities to work on complex policy problems across sectors, use NCAER’s datasets and collect new data, contribute at the highest levels of Indian policymaking, publish professionally, and engage with the digital media. Early-career faculty essentially do an unmatched “residency” in public policy, learning on the job. Applicants must have strong quantitative, writing and speaking skills, and must be independent self-starters.

Senior Fellows provide institutional leadership, develop and lead research projects, mentor staff, and possess a strong record of research, teaching, government service, publications, and fund-raising across multiple previous positions, including from senior ranks of government.

Fellows are mid-career professionals with a strong, post-PhD record of research, project management, and publications demonstrated over one or more previous positions

Associate Fellows can have nearly completed PhDs with cutting-edge empirical skills. Exceptional MPAs/MBAs/MAs/LLMs/JDs will be considered.
