Syracuse University invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Sport Management/Analytics with a focus on Sports Economics and Econometrics. (Tenure eligible). Appointment begins in August, 2018.

The Department of Sport Management is housed in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. The new Sport Analytics degree is an academically rigorous, business-based 126-credit hour curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, the first of its kind in the nation. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and potential graduate instruction in the Sport Analytics and Sport Management degree programs. We are looking to hire a Sports Economist with strong mathematics and econometrics skills. Background and research interest in empirical modeling on the business-side, player/team-side, or both areas of the sports industry are essential to this position. This faculty member will primarily teach courses in sports economics and econometrics.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will assist with academic student advising including course selection and strategic career planning; conduct individual and collaborative research; become an active participant in scholarly activities and community service; and effectively handle other responsibilities associated with being a tenure-track faculty member. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with other academic units and departments across the College, campus, and the local, regional and national sport industry.

An earned doctorate in economics or a related field. A demonstrated record of teaching and research accomplishments is desired, but recent PhD graduates are also encouraged to apply. Additional skills that are preferred, but not required, would be proficiency in R, Tableau, and other analytics software programs. Familiarity with databases and computer languages such as Python are desirable. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
