The Department of Public Service and Administration, Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track assistant or tenured associate professor in applied microeconomics, political economy, policy analysis, or other relevant empirical social science discipline to teach in its Master of Public Service and Administration Program. Of particular interest are scholars with a strong record of, or high potential for, research and teaching in public policy issues relating to energy, environment, and technology policy and management. Candidates will be expected to build on existing strengths and bolster the capacity of the School to participate in campus-wide multidisciplinary research initiatives and new or existing programs of the Institute for Science, Technology, and Public Policy and the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy. Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. by the beginning of employment in September 2018 and demonstrate evidence of a commitment both to high quality empirical research and to teaching in a professional school of government and public service. Review of applications will begin on October 1 and continue until the position is filled.

The Department of Public Service and Administration is one of two departments in the Bush School of Government and Public Service and currently enrolls 172 full-time in-residence students, with 22 full-time and 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. It offers three tracks of curriculum, including public management, public policy analysis, and nonprofit management. The School is ranked in the top 12 percent of graduate public affairs schools in the nation (U.S. News & World Report) and 1st in the Nation for “Best Value in MPA Programs” (Value College). The curriculum within the department is a blend of both the theoretical and the practical—providing students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successful careers in public and nonprofit service. Students choose from a number of concentrations to focus their studies including state and local government; health policy; education policy; security policy; energy, environment, and technology; international nongovernmental organizations; analytical methods; and individually designed concentrations offering flexibility to students with specific interests.
