Georgia Institute of Technology seeks a visionary leader to serve as Chair of the School of Economics (SOE) within the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. The chair will lead a diverse group of talented faculty and staff in fulfilling the research, teaching, and service missions of the SOE. The chair will provide strategic and operational leadership including (but not limited to) new faculty recruitment, promotion of faculty scholarship and teaching excellence, mentoring, program quality improvement, fundraising through development and sponsored research projects, and budget management. The chair will oversee the direction and expansion of faculty and degree programs in the SOE over the next 2-4 years. This position is part of a cluster hire for 2018 and a larger hiring plan going forward.

This position is open to applicants with expertise in any field of economics. Appointment may begin January 2018 or August 2018, depending on the availability of the selected candidate.

- Ph.D. in Economics;
- Excellent and recognized record of scholarship, teaching, professional service and leadership commensurate with the rank of full professor;

- Commitment to supporting and enhancing diversity among students, faculty and staff;
- Evidence of successful engagement with alumni and donors in development activities; and
- Effective communication, leadership and organizational skills.
