The Hertie School of Governance, Berlin, a European Professional School for Public Policy is recruiting a

Professor of Economics

The Hertie School of Governance is an international teaching and research center of excellence that prepares students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. An internationally recruited faculty, interdisciplinary in outlook, research, and teaching, offers analytically challenging and practice-oriented courses on governance, policy analysis, management, and leadership. As a professional school, we seek faculty members with a strong commitment to high-quality teaching. Our goal is to help students grow intellectually in a professional, research-intensive environment, characterized by public debate and engagement.

The Hertie School is recruiting a Professor of Economics working on policy-relevant topics in the areas of macro- or international economics (broadly defined). We are looking for a scholar who can combine state-of-the-art research with the teaching profile and research agenda of a public policy school: high policy-relevance in research and teaching is required. The position is full-time and intended to be filled at the level of full professor, but particularly promising early career candidates will be considered, too. The expected start date
is 1 September 2018.

The Hertie School seeks faculty with a commitment to intensive, high-quality teaching and innovative research of potential interest to the international scholarly community and policy-makers. Candidates are expected to show full commitment to working in an interdisciplinary, international environment with English as the language of instruction and operation. The successful candidate will teach courses in the School’s Master, Executive, and PhD programmes.

The Hertie School particularly encourages applications from female scholars and from candidates with international backgrounds.
We offer an internationally competitive salary in line with the candidate’s qualifications, excellent working conditions, a vibrant research environment, and a lively community of policy debate in the political heart of Germany.

The deadline for the submission of applications is 15 August 2017. The Hertie School will review applications that include a letter of motivation, a current curriculum vitae (publication list, degrees earned, if applicable: positions held, teaching experience, research projects, awards received), two writing samples and, if applicable, teaching evaluations. Early career candidates should include three letters of recommendation from professors familiar with their work.

Please send your application to facultyrecruitment@hertie-school.org, indicating where you found the advertisement.
