Birkbeck, University of London is a research-intensive institution ranked in the top 1% in the world by the THE. The School of Business, Economics and Informatics brings together the College’s business-facing activities, teaching around 5000 students in its four departments. The Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics combines research and teaching in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics, creating significant interdisciplinary synergies.

We invite applications for a Lectureship in Economics (roughly equivalent to a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in the US system).

You will be expected to pursue a vibrant research programme, actively pursuing opportunities for external research funding; provide excellent undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise research students and contribute to curriculum development. You will embrace Birkbeck’s commitment to access and opportunity in higher education in a research-intensive environment through evening teaching and flexible, innovative provision.

Applications are welcome in all areas of economics, though we are especially keen to recruit promising candidates working in the field of macroeconomics and/or finance. The successful lecturer would be expected to teach courses in an area broader than their own specialism.
