This Fellow supports the development of a policy-relevant research agenda for tackling urban poverty, through managing new evaluations and cultivating key policy relationships for J-PAL’s Urban Services Initiative (USI) and the IGC Bangladesh Country Program. These programs seek to identify and rigorously evaluate innovative methods to improve welfare of the urban poor in Bangladesh, covering a broad range of issues including water, sanitation, and hygiene; migrant integration; energy and the environment; transportation; housing and infrastructure; and delivery of health and education services.

The successful candidate will collaborate as co-principal investigator with Yale University Professor of Economics Mushfiq Mobarak, as well as with other scholars doing empirical research at top-tier academic institutions. The Fellow will gain experience in primary data collection, conducting and publishing field experiments, developing a policy-relevant research agenda, and cultivating policy relationships in Bangladesh.

We prefer fellow be based primarily in Dhaka, Bangladesh, although candidates based in the US and able to travel to Dhaka frequently will be considered.
