The Poverty Research Unit (PRU) of the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) publishes an alternative poverty measure for New York City that is a nationally recognized metric for evaluating and targeting policies intended to reduce economic inequality. We are seeking a Senior Associate who will apply statistical analysis using administrative and survey data to develop poverty related metrics. Results will appear in technical reports and academic papers. Must be able to work both independently and in collaborative setting. Required:
• Candidates will have a completed or near completed Ph.D.
• Strong knowledge of applied statistics. Experience with semi parametric modeling, missing data imputation, Bayesian statistics, and machine learning techniques are a plus
• Research experience related to income distribution, income mobility, poverty, wages, or urban economies; awareness of race, gender and ethnicity issues as they relate to poverty.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of income support programs and low income tax credits.
• Familiarity with American Community Survey or Current Population Survey.
