The Health Care Cost Institute (HCCI) is seeking to hire a Research Fellow to participate in public reporting and research projects, related specifically to commercial and Medicare pharmaceutical pricing and utilization. The fellow’s responsibilities will include analyzing data, writing reports and policy briefs, and authoring academic articles.
The position requires a broad range of skills and experience including, but not limited to:

• A PhD in economics, health services research, or a related discipline
• An understanding of the U.S. health care system and health insurance
• Experience analyzing medical and pharmacy claims data
• Proficiency with SAS, STATA, or R as well as experience with SQL
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The fellowship is open to researchers of any experience level. The position is an ideal opportunity for a mid-level academic with experience defining a research agenda; however, new PhDs are also encouraged to apply. The 12-month fellowship includes a competitive salary and benefits package and is potentially renewable or eligible to be converted to a permanent HCCI position, contingent on funding availability. The position reports to the Director of Research.

HCCI is an independent, non-profit, research institute located in Washington, DC. HCCI conducts and promotes research on U.S. health care spending. HCCI’s data holdings are comprised of administrative health insurance data on nearly 100 million individuals. In addition to its multi-payer commercial claims dataset, HCCI is a national Qualified Entity with access to national-level Parts, A, B, and D Medicare claims data.
